Newsprint in Kenya
Newsprint is a lightweight groundwood paper, typically 45–52gsm, made for high-speed web offset presses. It is the cheapest printing substrate available and is used for newspapers, classified inserts, high-volume flyers and packing material.
Because it contains lignin, newsprint yellows and becomes brittle within months. Anything intended to be kept should be printed on woodfree offset instead.
